A secret shared

is no longer a secret.

My parents can’t keep a secret to save their souls. They were supposed to refrain from telling anyone that I was unemployed, but they apparently decided that it was OK to tell my brother when he got laid off himself. What part of “Don’t tell anyone” was ambiguous? I mean, I probably would have had to say something when I go down there in August but surely it was my secret to tell, not theirs. Knowing my brother, I’m sure everyone else knows now as well.

So, don’t ever tell my parents anything you don’t want everyone else to know.

Good lesson to learn, even this late.
